Hiya!
I hope you’re all happy and safe during this pandemic. Life update: My dog got attacked last year and I just want to say thank you so much for the donations that helped with her medical bills. Pretzel is doing much better and she is healthy and runs around as if nothing ever happened. She is all healed! Thank you!!
And on to the post: I’ve been working on my “Glow Up” routine to come out of quarantine looking like an even better, healthier version of myself. Here’s my Game Plan with what I’ve come up with so far:
Hair Glow Up Routine:
My hair isn’t as thick as when I was in college so I’m trying to grow it all back. It’s probably the fact that I keep dying my hair pink and purple and it’s just damaged over time, so I’m ready to revive my hair and let it flourish lol.
1. Keratin Scalp Spray
One time in college I tried a keratin treatment and it made my hair so shiny and smooth for months. It was a $200 treatment though and I really can’t afford that right now, so I’m trying this Klorane brand scalp spray. It’s marketed for those with thinning hair. I like it so far. It isn’t itchy or burning and has little fragrance. I spray it on my scalp and massage it in. The price is $32.00 at Ulta.
2. Hair Vitamins
I used to take these gummy hair vitamins in college and my hair was strong, thick and healthy in college so maybe it was this? I remember these tasted super yummy and fruity like strawberries. It looks like they changed their formula though so I will update on what that tastes like and what results I got in a month as well.
This has biotin which helps promote hair growth. The brand Nature’s Bounty is $6.99 at Target. I will be getting mine from Walgreens because I have a gift card. They are also on Amazon but they might be fakes so I personally would not buy vitamins from Amazon because I just don’t trust that they’re the same quality.
A lot of the time Amazon products are fake and if I can order my vitamins from Target for curbside pick-up I would rather do that to ensure they are real quality. Sometimes there are also buy-one-get-one-free deals at Target, Walgreens, or CVS!
You can also try Sugar Bear Hair. A lot of influencers and YouTubers have talked about this hair gummy vitamins brand, but I personally don’t have the money right now to buy expensive gummies that might not work, but I think you can return them to Ulta and get a refund if you don’t like them. Sugar Bear Hair is $29.99 for the month supply and $9.99 for 5 day supply. That’s pricey in my opinion. These definitely look aesthetic though. So cute! lol.
Eyelash Glow Up Routine
I have heard that Castor oil works great for lash and brow growth, but when I tried applying pure castor oil, it was very gooey and sticky. It felt really unpleasant on my skin, so I’ve been looking at the Forchics eyelash serum lately because it looks like a less sticky, thinner serum. I am thinking of buying it soon. If I do I will make a separate review post! 🙂
Forchics packaging and branding is very cute and they also used to have a lash perm kit, but it’s not on the website anymore.
I did find that there is a well known, highly reviewed lash lift perm kit on amazon called Iconsign! I plan to get that one eventually soon too.
Anti-Aging Body Lotion
I also just got a Glycolic acid body lotion to try and fade the pigmentation on my legs. I have little brown spots from ingrown hairs, so I’m trying to even out the skin color on my legs. Will update on how that goes too! The brand I got is Alpha Skincare. I got it because @joleendiaz on Instagram is a gorgeous, ageless mother in her 40’s and she looks like a teenager because she takes really great care of her skin!!
Mental Glow Up
I’ve been working on improving my mental health through therapy lately, and I have been using the app called BetterHelp. It took me a couple tries to find a therapist that matched me and my personality and needs. The therapist I have now is so compassionate, kind, uplifting, and encouraging. I love her a lot and she has helped me get through this pandemic.
BetterHelp app allows you to text your therapist, but you can also schedule phone or webcam appointments. I personally just text my therapist and schedule an appointment twice a month. I think you can get a weekly appointment though!
I think it’s really worth getting a therapist, and it’s worth the search for a good one that matches you.
I got discouraged when I first tried therapy because the first therapist I tried at my University was very cold and not very comforting. For me, I need someone who is going to validate my feelings and tell me it’s okay to feel what I am feeling.
So if you try therapy and your first therapist isn’t a very good one, I suggest keep looking because the right therapist can really change your life! And I’m not exaggerating, they can truly be a great support for you and help you learn to cope with your stress and anxieties.
All in all, I think working on improving my health and appearance is a fun little side project for me to help me get through this pandemic. To me, it’s a form of self care
Thanks for reading!
I hope you stay safe and happy!
Love,
